This hard-shell gourd birdhouse is ready to be placed outside for your avian friends. Each gourd stands between 9" to 11" high and is 7-8" in diameter. (at the bottom). Gourd Birdhouse Tips
While these gourd birdhouses should last for up to 10-15 years, the finish will not and needs some personal care and maintenance to keep its beautiful color. Here are some tips to help your birdhouse last as long as possible.
Place your birdhouse at least five feet above the ground, if not higher. If possible, place it facing East so birds can enjoy the morning sun but avoid the afternoon heat.
Avoid placing your birdhouse close to bird feeders and birdbaths as small songbirds may feel threatened by larger birds.
Try not to hang your birdhouse in direct sunlight as this will minimize color fade.
When possible, try to minimize exposure to rain and snow as freezing and thawing can deteriorate the finish.
Recoat your birdhouse annually with polyurethane as this will extend the finish.
